How To Backup WhatsApp Messages on Android

WhatsApp was launched as an alternative to Short Message Service (SMS). It's the biggest messaging platform. WhatsApp has over 1 million unique users from 180 countries. Every day, people use WhatsApp to text for personal and business use.

By default, WhatsApp chats get saved to your phone on a daily basis. Local backups will be automatically created every day by 2.00 AM.

This doesn't mean that your chats are backed up to cloud storage. To backup WhatsApp messages to the cloud, you need to give access to it.

If you're relying on mobile data, you may want to save data on Android. So, you could even postpone WhatsApp back up with a simple trick.

On Android, WhatsApp chats are allowed to save to Google drive. For each Gmail account, Google gives 15 GB of cloud storage. Starting November 12, 2018, WhatsApp backup will no longer count against your Google Drive storage limit.

So, you could backup WhatsApp messages and media files without the quota issue.
